Marware SportShell Convertible for iPad Review

What really caught my eye about this shell was its "transforming" multi-mode positions.

The Good:
-Four nubs on the back allow iPad to sit flat on its back without wobbling.
-The slightly raised "typing" position. Very comfy and just the perfect amount of tilt. Looks very Star Trekky.
-The clear acrylic insert gives the iPad a cool appearance.
-Hand strap can convert from horizontal to vertical orientation.(but it's a bit of a hassle to switch)
-Easy access to all ports, switches and buttons. Orientation lock still easy to reach. (Not sure if Dock compatible)
-Fits into TwelveSouth's BookArc stand just fine.

The Bad:
-The high angle "movie mode" tilt. The angle is nice, but the feet seem ready to snap off.
-The feet of all legs are completely smooth. It is easily slide around a smooth surface.
-If not for the hand strap, the shell is just as slippery at the iPad itself.
-Cheap feeling thin plastic. It does keep the iPad profile slim. But I wouldn't mind a little more texture or protection.

The Ugly:
-It requires considerable force to snap and unsnap the folding feet. They attach to the edges of the iPod aluminum frame, not to itself. The hard snapping sound feels like I'm breaking something.
-The actual hand strap. It's made from the thinnest, lightest elastic foam material I've ever felt. I have old socks with stronger elastic. I give it a couple weeks before it's completely stretched out and limp. I actually fear that the weight of the iPad will rip the strap out of the connecting pegs. (I would have preferred woven nylon and adjustable velcro -- like camcorder hand straps)

So while it's not the perfect case, it has a few great features. But there's definitely room for improvement.

That Orange Stuff 16 oz. Review

I recently bought and used this cleaner and was really impressed with how well it did.It's a concentrate, so once it's diluted, the price is very inexpensive.I was surprised at how many different jobs it did around the house! I was planning on just cleaning the sinks and ended up unclogging drains, cleaning the toilets and mirrors.It can also be used in carpet cleaners, so I'm planning on trying that next.I also read that it fixes squeaky hinges.I like that it's an organic product but at the same time gets the job done well.So many organic products I've tried in the past did not work as well as the regular cleaners.Plus, this cleaner has such a nice, light scent that I don't have to air out the room when I'm done.All in all, I was very impressed and ordered two more bottles!

CorningWare 2.5-qt. Oval Casserole with Lid - French White Review

The original "French White" Corningware was made of their famous pyroceramic glass, which could be used on the gas stove, put directly in the freezer, put under the broiler right from the freezer, and oh yes, also used in a microwave. And it was very unlikely to shatter if dropped. If you pounded on it with a hammer and nail you might have gotten it to break.

When World Kitchens bought the license from Corning, they decided to halt production of a line of cookware that would take anything and last forever, and dupe customers, especially brides, into thinking the stoneware "French White" was the same thing as the wonderful French White pyroceramic cookware previously available.

The pattern is attractive and can be used with any decor, but this stuff is not, repeat, really not, what people mean when they say "Corningware."

Le Creuset can do most of the above mentioned, but it being metal you cannot use it in the microwave. Stoneware cannot go on top of the stove, and repeated trips from the freezer to the oven will eventually cause it to craze and crack. And being stoneware, it will also chip, and break if dropped, etc. Pyrex glassware cannot go on the gas stove although you can take it from the freezer to the oven, and also microwave it.

The only product which could do anything was pyroceramic, and World Kitchens has chosen to remove it from the market because it is "too good."

They have recently brought back a few of the old square shapes, with the Cornflower, or plain white, calling it "vintage," but the French White shape is not making an appearance yet. If you want it, email them and ask for it!

Meanwhile, get Le Creuset for stovetop cooking and roasting (yes it is expensive but it lasts forever and cooks beautifully), and reheat things in Pyrex in the microwave.

Emerson .7 Black Chrome Microwave Review

Ok so thankfully we didn't buy this ourselves it was a gift. We have not had this microwave any longer than a month and it just burnt out on us trying to pop popcorn...POPCORN of all things!!!! PATHETIC! Yes, I know...you're thinking maybe I just blew a fuse. Not the case, the microwave was hot to the touch and upon checking the fuse box everything was fine. I'll list the cons below aside from the fact that the damn thing burnt out on us not even a month out!

Very Small (don't even think about placing a dinner plate inside)
Weak
Over priced for what you get

Pros:

Sleek
Stainless steel
Attractive looking

So as you can see the functionality is non existent. It's a very nice looking paper weight. Save your money for something more reputable that will last longer than a month!

This microwave looks good, but as a microwave that cannot generate microwave, it is useless.

I had used several microwave stoves before, some of them around $50, some around $100, but none of them stopped working within 3 yrs--except this expensive one. We called GE customer service, they told me the magnetron tube was broken, and they also told me this happens because, statistically, the failure rate of this magnetron tube is 3-4 percent. I don't need to be a magnetron-tube engineer to understand this rate. As a regular customer, I just know this failure rate is too high to be accepted.

If GE continues to make this kind of products, it will become another GM soon, and they can only depend on the government bailout to survive.

Currently, the actual oven temperature is much lower than the programmed temperature of the oven.

Programming the oven for 400 degF results in an internal oven temperature of 330 degF.

Programming the oven for 450 degF results in an internal oven temperature of 390 degF.

The measured data supports what we long suspected - that the oven temperature was much lower than it should be.Based on my experience cooking with the oven, I believe that it was operating correctly during the first few months that we owned it.Gradually we noticed that food was taking much longer than it should to cook.Armed with the new calibration temperatures I expect that we can continue to use the oven.

This unit was purchased new less than one year ago.

Frigidaire Over The Range Microwave - White Review

Wife wanted an over the range microwave but we were space limited by the size of the cabinet above the range and that's the plus for this unit, it is not too tall. So if that's your deciding criteria, it's okay.

The minuses: the fan is noisy as is the microwave when it's on. The door sounds cheap when it's closed. Only one light setting, no auto off on the fan and limited cooking features. Yes it works but if size is not a factor look elsewhere.

Microwave Review

First off you can't let a minor detail like the fact that it is made of wood bother you. And second the fact that the handle is from some old IKea furniture, do NOT let that bother you! The key pad is made by hand, but works great and it is quite unique as well. It is only 1/4 cubic ft inside but it has a very small footprint. It is perfect for heating jars of honey or warming up coffee. It also is really handy for warming up cupcakes and other small items. I would say this is very well made and the chances of ever seeing another make it quite desirable for those people who crave uniqueness. Buy it while you can, when you can, if you can!

KitchenAid : KBHS179SSS Microwave Review

Purchased in July 09, I was excited about some of the features of this microwave/convection oven and for the nice look of it above our matching regular oven.The microwave part does a good job heating evenly, popping popcorn, etc. I do not use a microwave for cooking (I believe it kills the nutrients in the food), so I love that this has a traditional convection cook setting.The microwave, for me, is primarily used for reheating the occasional leftovers, coffee, etc.I have used the 'crisp' feature several times and it is just ok.It takes a long time and is a little more hassle than just using the broiler or toaster since you have to preheat the crisping pan before you use the feature.You don't have to keep as close an eye on it as a broiler, though, since it shuts off after the programmed amount of time.The convection portion cooks nicely, although I have not used it as much as I'd like.I'm hoping to use it more to save energy by not having to heat the entire cavity of the regular oven.It's perfect for that small batch of cookies or side dish that cooks at a different temp than the rest of dinner.

Here are some of the drawbacks: the crisp element on the top of the microwave makes it much more difficult to clean if there were to be any splatters.Be sure to keep everything covered (sometimes difficult with kids around!).I was worried that the door opening forward would bother me, and it did take a few days - and one spilled cup of coffee - to get used to, but otherwise it has not bothered me.If you were shorter in stature or had weak arms (such as someone elderly that had bad shoulder joints or something), this might not be the best set up for you as pans do feel heavier and are more cumbersome coming out at shoulder height than they do from the regular oven.The other thing to keep in mind is that this requires 220 (like a regular oven), not a regular outlet.If you had a wall oven with a microwave above it, like we did, you will have to rewire.

Overall, I do like the look and the way it cooks, but I'm not sure if I'd spend the extra money and hassle or rewiring for this if I had to do it over again.

A decent microwave, looks nice, spacious, which also makes it larger.

Things that work well:

Cooks very evenly
offers alot of space (possibly unnecessary space)
Quick start buttons
Soft start and quiet when it operates, which is very nice.
Lights are bright.
Installation was easy and sensible
Things that dont:

Clock is kind of dim. Hard to see at even reasonable distances during the day. Also the numbers are not centered in the LED space, looks off.

You can not program the micro to cook when the timer is operating. This is really uncommon, most microwaves offer this, so keep it mind. Basically the Micro becomes a giant kitchen timer and nothing more when you use the timer feature. Terrible design if you ask me.

Alot of "convenience" buttons that quite honestly are not very convenient. Makes you have to refer to the manual alot to remember what exactly they do and removes control from the user often overcooking the food.

Sticks out from the cabinet face a little more than most Micro ovens, and the handle is comfortable but obtrusive.

I personally only use a MIcro for basic cooking and reheating, this one is a little more than I would have ever needed as far as features go. I bought it mainly to match off with the range, apparently Frigidaire uses a coating on the certain SS appliance (professional and Gallery) it is has a different look than their regular (non-coated) SS models. Overall I am satisfied with it, but if matching is not your important, go for something else at this price point. You will probably get convection and the logic for operating the machine will probably make more sense.

We got this as part of the Profile set to match our range/oven.It has some great features, like a push display, and a boost feature to REALLY get some air OUT!Love that.But when I went to push the button for the vent, the whole button panel behind the stainless steel moved back- I broke something.The repair guy just left after telling me I had broken the processor assembly which costs $500+ to replace, and then there's labor.So we're looking at $750 to get a new one?I don't think so.I'll just get a different stainless steel microwave with better reviews!

Sharp R-306LK Mid Size 1.0 Cu Ft Black Microwave Review

I havehad this microwave for two years now. It is easy to use, works just fine and looks nice and sleek in the kitchen. I use it mostly for heating up food rather than cooking it, and for popcorn, etc- fast things. I have large fingers and have no problem with the size of the "buttons" . My last one, an IntelliChef, was more expensive than this and now I wonder why I spent all that money on it ( it started smoking after 6 years of use) when this Sharp would have been fine.I just edited this review (today's date is 12/7/2009) as my original review (Nov. 2007) was written shortly after I bought it. I am glad I bought this.

PVM1870SMSS - GE - PVM1870SMSS - Profile Spacemaker XL1800 Stainless Steel Mic - 11157 Review

I purchased GE Profile suite series made in Aug of 2007,one item being the GE Profile 1.8 cu. ft. Over-the-Range Microwave Oven Model PVM1870SMSS.It has been in use about 2 1/2 years and suddenly stopped working i.e. heating.Nothing heats in the microwave oven now. Everything else works fine.

I called Customer Service as this should be under warranty. The Profile line is their "top of the line" product and at the price it is, should definitely last longer than 2 1/2 years. It seems like the magnetron tube has gone out from what I am reading. The part is covered under warranty, but I will have to pay labor. GE wants to charge $100 to send out a service tech plus labor.

Very disappointed that this high end appliance has not lasted very long. Did not have excessive use as I have a household of 1. Isn't something being done about this. GE shouldn't have so many complaints regarding magnetron tubes. They should last longer than 2 1/2 years! I see hundreds of complaints here regarding same issue.

I has an old Emerson counter top that laster 14+ years.I will not buy GE anymore and will need to file an official complaint.

Orka A68904 Silicone Square Steam Cooker, Rasberry Review

I use my Orka silicon steamer while traveling in my rv--easy to use, easy clean-up, by far the best microwave cookware I have ever used. I have not used them in an oven yet, but they are supposed to be good up to 425 degrees. Orka does need to expand their recipe books;maybe an online recipe website would be nice.This size is nice for casseroles and rice;very little water necessary for vegies--just drops or none at all! The spices infuse nicely in the cooked items;I am so impressed by this product line that I sent them out as Christmas gifts--everyone seems to love them.

Microkiln, Medium (Microwave Kiln) Review

I bought this product 3-4 months ago and followed their instructions step by step.Even bought a new microwave at their recommendation of 1000 watt.Have only had a few piece actually come out ok.These were thin dichro with thin clear on top.The other several dozen broke in process or burnt.No repeatability and 10 seconds could mean the difference between a good fuse and a burnt piece.Also is layer specific, meaning that the thickness of the glass plays a role and how long to fuse it.In the same batch you could have pieces that didn't fuse or pieces that burnt.I should have saved my money for the purchase of an actual kiln.Not worth all the time, experimentation, and glass.

Pyrex Bake 'N Store Review

I just got these for Christmas and I'm in love already.
The lids on these are great. My sister in law has a set that's a bit older and it's SO hard to get the lids off of the rectangular ones. These are very well designed with big tabs that you just pull up to open. I also feel like they have a great seal.
These are going to be so great for entertaining because we'll be able to cook in them, throw the lids on and go.
Also, I won't have to make brownies in my non-stick pan anymore and end up cutting up the non-stick coating when I go to slice the brownies.
I've only been using these for a week, but I already totally love them!

Whirlpool : GH7208XRB Microwave Review

This is a great microwave and I really like the features. Having said that I think a person could get a similar microwave for much less money. Prior to purchasing this I wondered what the steamer and sizzler was as there was not much information on these features. Turns out they are just a special dish. These two features certainly do not justify the several hundred dollars more than a typical microwave/convection. I have had the microwave three months now and have not even used either of the "special" vessels. The fan works very well and is very powerful. It stays on all the time during convection and sounds similar to a small jet airplane. Works great and it sounds like it should the socks off your feet. Overall I like the microwave/convection but would have bought a less expensive model knowing what I do now.
Just updating my review of this product. After a few months, the fan started vibrating producing an annoying noise. I wedged piece of wood next to the fan shroud to keep it from vibrating. Also wanted to note that November of 08 this microwave went out and no longer works. I am very disappointed in this product. I would also like to note that we are now using our nearly 30 year old Sharp microwave convection. We will be replacing the Whirlpool with a Kenmore or Sharp microwave/convection. Whirlpool products will not be part of my home in the future.

LG Microwave Over The Range With Pull Up Door, 2.2 Cu Ft - Stainless Steel Review

This microwave has some interesting feature such as the door and the oscillating tray.

However, it is totally overatedon its venting capacity. In fact the specs on venting are an exageration.

Also the electronic touch control pad failed after about a year.Finally the touch control pad locked itself ( child lock activated spontaneously!!!) and is now totally unresponsive.Tried the steps in the instruction manual to deactivate the child lock --no luck.The microwave is now unusable!!

WHIRLPOOL - 2.0 CF SpeedCook Microwave (GH7208XRQ) Review

I have this microwave in black.We're remodeling so have had nothing to cook with for the past 2 weeks except this microwave and a small 11" electric skillet.This microwave is absolutely amazing!I knew it came with a rack a sizzle pan, but was suprised when I got it and found 2 wire stands, one low and one high profile, the sizzle pan, with handle for when it's hot, and a fairly large casserole w/ steamer insert.The touch screen is interactive and easy to use.The "sensor cooking" feature works very well.The control panel takes just the slightest touch and is very accurate.There are MANY preprogrammed options, but you can easily operate it manually in any mode as well.

I have a busy life, full time job w/ 1 hr commute each way and 3 young boys (as of this date 01/30/09 they are 6, 3 and 18 mos.)When they are hungry, they are hungry!We have been eating a lot of frozen pizzas which would normally gross me out to have to eat - who wants soggy crusted microwaved pizza???(My husband does, but he's weird! LOL!)You put the sizzle pan up on the high stand and use the interactive touch screen to find the frozen pizza menu where you select thick or thin crust and also the diameter of the pizza.Then it tells you which rack to use and to place that w/ the sizzle pan in the microwave to preheat.It preheats for 3 minutes, then beeps and tells you to put in the pizza, then touch Continue.It takes about 8 minutes for a 9" thin crust, so give or take depending on your pizza.I haven't had time to watch it run through an entire cylce, but have noticed that it apparantly runs through different cooking phases ending with one that bubbles/browns the cheese.The pizza comes out looking awesome and tastes pretty darn good, too!The texture isn't perfect, but much better than any microwaved pizza I've ever experienced before.

The lighting (it has a nightlite feature) and fan speed options are excellent and when used as a range hood (over my little electric skillet) it has done an excellent job drawing in steam and grease.The grease filters can go in the dishwasher.The charcoal filters will be replace every so often as necessary.

With nothing else to really cook in/on, I've not had time to risk experimenting so haven't tried the broil, convection bake, or grilling features.If they work as well as what I've experienced thus far I'll be completely satisfied.This appliance has been an absolute JOY to own.It has a "most frequently used" menu that has "learned" what we cook most often and placed them there for easier access - it will change as our needs change.

If you decide to splurge on this microwave, I doubt you'll be sorry!I certainly am not!!!
